Part 07 - Blood and Tears

Among the few survivors of the night's inferno was King Lrak. Knights of the kite medal found him seriously hurt in between the rubble of the once magnificent city...

During the retreat from the Old Barrier, King Lrak and his daughter Nileve had been separated from their bodyguards and caught by a dark cloud of the black fog in a small side lane...

Wrapped in hot soot and glowing ash the king and his daughter were thrown down to the ground. The last King Lrak could remember, was seeing dark shadows which formed out of the blackness of the fog and grabbed princess Nileve. Then a dull blow had hit the king's head and he slipped into unconsciousness ...

Only by coincidence was the king found a little later by a small troop of his faithful knights, who had also fled from the Black Fog...

They had found King Lrak in the small side lane, with a shabby travelling druid, Tsrohuen, bending over him...

The druid told them that he had found the king and was about to look for his wounds. When he was questioned about the king's daughter, he responded: "The Black Fog must have kidnapped her, like so many many others." Hastily he added: "Nevertheless I am able to trace the path of the fog, if the king asks for it, and I can also be helpful in other ways ... "

And so it was, that even before all the fires had died, King Lrak and a crowd of his most courageous knights left the city of Nelaa...
